Artist Management/Representation/Networking: Von Iva are a welcomed new addition to MIN Entertainment. They hail from San Francisco, and I have long been a fan! They are renowned for their bombastic shows by playing live dance music that continues to capture even the most jaded music fan's attention. Von Iva recently appeared in the film "Yes Man," the #1 Warner Brothers release starring Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel released December 2008 and now available on dvd. Von Iva appeared as the fictional Munhausen by Proxy supporting Deschanel, and is credited for 4 tracks on the film soundtrack. The band has been touring non-stop over the past 12 months, recently supporting Glasvegas, and co-headlining with Semi Precious Weapons, Nico Vega, and Girl in a Coma. They continue their US loop with a Spring/Summer headlining tour, followed by even more dates supporting Amy Ray. Von Iva is booked by the MOB Agency. Hailing from NYC but with roots from Brazil, Forro in the Dark makes people dance like they forgot they could. They sweat, stomp, roll their eyes into the backs of their heads and don’t stop for hours. For the past four years, they’ve packed their home base and birthplace at Nublu well beyond capacity every Wednesday night, with lines stretching out onto Avenue C during hailstorms and blizzards. The band has toured with artists such as Gogol Bordello, Balkan Beatbox, Bebel Gilberto, Cafe Tacuba, and Miho Hatori, and played festivals such as All Points West Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival, Quebec City Summer Festival, Chicago Folk and Roots Festival, Bumbershoot, Latin Alternative Music Conference, The Cambridge River Festival, and SXSW. Their sophomore album "Light a Candle" will be released in September 2009 via Nat Geo Music / Nublu. The band has performed on the BBC, KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, WFUV, Horizantes on KUT/NPR, and World Cafe. Forro in the Dark is booked by High Road. Kid Beyond has performed at Coachella, SXSW, Langerado, Wakarusa, Treasure Island, Lightning in a Bottle, Ottawa Blues Festival, and Evolve among other festivals. In 2006, Kid Beyond released his debut EP, entitled Amplivate. In it's first days on sale, it quickly moved into the Top 5 sales on CD Baby, and it was featured on NPR's "Day to Day." He was named "Best Oral of the Bay" in the Bay Guardian, and played packed EP release shows in SF, LA, NYC, and Austin. He is represented by the Progressive Global Agency. In 2006, Kid Beyond rocked NAMM, SXSW, Earthdance, Summerfest, Musik Messe in Germany, and did a national tour supporting Imogen Heap and opened for other artists including Keane, String Cheese Incident, DJ Krush, Blackalicious, The Wailers, Buckethead, The Mutaytor, Digital Underground, The Coup, and the Brazilian Girls. Kid Beyond is currently working on new material. |
